Prevention is Better than Cure vision

In response to the government's Prevention is Better than Cure vision, our CEO Neil Heslop said:

‘Greater focus on a prevention agenda is welcome but to really do it  justice, our local authorities need to be better equipped. Right now, they don’t have the capacity or budget to move towards a preventative approach. They need decent social care funding and community services to meet growing demand.

“Good quality care and support puts less strain on the NHS, reduces hospital stays, and people get the care they need before conditions deteriorate unnecessarily and they reach crisis point. 

“The new focus on prevention must be accompanied by a clear, well-resourced  strategy and it’s essential disabled people do not continue to bear the brunt of austerity cuts but are able to live independent lives.’
